Project Connect Nashville’s Partnership with Radio Station “The Fish”

If you are driving through town and happen to spot either eye-catching billboards or a company vehicle (a really cool decked out van we might add,) zipping around the Nashville neighborhoods sporting PCN’s familiar logo, do not be surprised! We are thrilled to announce our new and exciting partnership with one of Nashville’s very own radio stations – 94 FM “The Fish.”

The flagship station for the nationwide Today’s Christian Music Network owned by Salem Media Group,  94 FM The Fish was launched in Music City almost 20 years ago. Project Connect Nashville and 94 FM The Fish have recently formed a promotional partnership and we are thrilled to welcome them to the ever-growing PCN family!

Daily, you’ll hear inspiring music as you connect with local hosts, like Doug Griffin (who reminds co-workers of their own birthdays – thanks Doug, we forget that over here too!) Along with the music, you can also catch up on Community Events, News, and Weather. Online, you’ll find prayer requests, a “Church Search,” and more! “Love Happens Here” is The Fish’s battle cry. This resonates with Project Connect as we both continue on our devoted mission of helping to break the cycle of poverty, bringing hope and courage where there is uncertainty, and spreading love where there is ache and pain, all while restoring faith in God.

“I have a passion for what they do… They don’t just feed, they emotionally feed, spiritually feed, and physically feed, which is so needed… It’s not just a Band-aid, it’s like doing heart surgery… It’s pretty incredible.” Christina Eckert – Media Strategist at 94 FM The Fish, describes her appreciation, respect, and gratitude for Project Connect Nashville and what they are doing. The united path between Project Connect and The Fish is no accident, as Christina originally started by doing volunteer work for PCN, participating in a Resume Writing Workshop, before she brought PCN on as a partner. “I love their hearts, this ministry needs to be heard, and so many people don’t know what they do, and it’s so needed,” Christina said.

Jackie Lancaster is Director of Executive Operations at Salem Nashville, having climbed her way up the ladder after being at the group for 22 years. She has helped facilitate the “brainchild” of Christina’s boss Ashley Grutter. Amid the shut down around the Pandemic, Ashley really wanted to think outside the box, and discover about unique ways to bring the community together. Jackie has helped successfully execute the plans of putting together a Street Team –  bringing together some likeminded partners who just want to “love on Nashville.” It is no wonder we joined forces, since loving on Nashville is what we at PCN are committed to doing every day!

“Some of the things we have that a lot of other radio stations don’t is servant-minded local promotions, local DJ’s, and the ability to bring others along,” Jackie said. Locality, community, and “Acts of Love” play a significant part in the culture at the Fish. “Acts of Love” was similar to something their sister station, The Fish Atlanta organized – called the “Christmas Wish.” Listeners would nominate people who were in need and The Fish would try and fulfill those needs. “If someone needed a car, if someone needed a place to live, if someone needed new beds, The Fish was able to provide them. We’ve been trying to replicate that program on The Fish here in Nashville… And we were able to do that at Christmas time,” Jackie stated.  The Street Team and its partners will help facilitate that.

Project Connect and 94 FM The Fish continue to persevere, lovingly and openly, despite the paralyzing challenges of 2020. The new year looks hopeful, as this inspiring partnership has a vision of reexamination and rebuilding. New projects are on the horizon, and that means new pathways to serving people in our community, old friends and new, will be explored.

We should all look to encourage each other to keep healthy, remain confident, stay on track and keep the faith while we look to God for His blessing on this work. Our members and contributors can expect to see 94 FM The Fish at a few of our planned events, such as the Fund Raiser Dinner, Work Life Graduation, etc… And vice versa. PCN is undoubtedly honored and proud to be a new sponsor of 94 FM The Fish! There is no limit to what we can accomplish this year together, partnered with like-minded folks, who just want to “love on Nashville!” Now let’s spread the love!
